My Newly Finished Game Room

Saturday, November 3rd, 2012

Over the past few months I’ve been working my butt off to save up to really put together my own game room. The beginning was fairly cheap and easy, such as lighting and paint, but it was filling the room that was really putting a dent in my pocket. Over time though the more I saved, the more it slowly began to come together and now it’s finally finished! Building a game room takes time, money, and a whole lot of patience, but it is all worth it in the end. When you’re finally done filling the room you can be proud of what you’ve accomplished and finally start inviting people over for game night.

Two Words To Keep You At The Table Longer

Sunday, October 7th, 2012

We’ve all made the mistake of calling a bet, even when we assume we have the worst hand. Most people get so caught up in the thrill of poker, they begin to lose sight of the safe way to do things. Granted the safe way is not always the most fun way, but it will keep you in the game a lot longer. If you want to become a better poker player, the two words you should keep in your mind at all times are “self control”. Without this, you’ll soon realize you make some pretty horrible calls and you’re out of the game almost as quick as you begin.

Learn The House Edge

Thursday, September 6th, 2012

Every game in a casino, with the exception of poker, has a house edge. Each house edge percentage varies by game, some being a small edge and others having an extremely high house edge such as the blackjack insurance bet. Take the time to look into the odds and house edge percentage of each game to know how you should bet and what you can expect to win. Pokers only house edge is the amount that is taken out of the pot each hand. Knowing what you can expect to win depending on your bet and what your odds are can greatly help you in a casino and help you either win money or keep you from losing all of it.

Look For A Job In A Casino

Sunday, September 2nd, 2012

These days it can be hard to find any sort of employment. No matter where you go you can search for a job and apply for a job at almost every single place you can find and only have a slim chance of being hired. Many stores and restaurants simply don’t have enough space or positions to hire a large group of people, but there is one place that always has multiple employment opportunities. Casinos all over the world always have hundreds if not thousands of job positions that always need someone to work them.

Learn From The Professor

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

There are many recognizable poker players, but one of the most iconic would have to be Howard Lederer. He began as a chess player, but when he was introduced to poker he quickly grew a fond passion for the game. Over his career he has won two World Series of Poker bracelets and his total tournament winnings total over $4,800. Nicknamed “The Professor” due to his analytical style and calm demeanor at the poker table, these days Lederer co-hosts Poker Superstars, a series of no limit Texas Hold’em tournaments and Poker: Learn from the Pros. He has made several instructional poker videos and remains a large part of the poker scene today.

Why I Love Roulette

Thursday, August 16th, 2012

Out of the many casino games, my favorite is definitely roulette. The very first time I went to a casino I sat down at the roulette table and my love for the game began. Not only was the game very easy to learn, but the betting was very simple as well. I started with only $20 worth of chips and within an hour walked away with $200. With so many ways to bet, it can be very easy to win money or lose money very quickly. Luckily enough for me, luck was on my side this day and I earned much more money to enjoy the rest of my night.

Custom Chips For Any Occasion

Tuesday, July 31st, 2012

Not only are chips being put out in new styles, weights and colors all the time, but now poker chips can be used as a promotion. With the ability to create your own custom poker chips, you can create a chip to suit whatever type of promotion you’re running. For instance, one poker chip I’ve seen is being given out at a local bar on their poker nights. It’s a chip that is given to new players to the tournament and awards them with a free beer. This is a great way to get new players to the tournament and really raise the stakes. So as you can see, if you have the idea for it, a poker chip can go a long way.

The Excitement of Craps

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012

If you ever walk into a casino and hear yelling, shouting and excitement, that’s to be expected. If you hear an unusually large amount of this coming from a large group of people in a circle, it’s one of two things, a fight, or the craps table. Craps is just like what you would expect from what you see in the movies. It’s one of the most exciting and heart pumping games in the casinos today. What really sets craps apart is not only its high energy gameplay, but also the way it’s played compared to other games, and the craps table itself. Everything about craps sets it apart in the casino and it is definitely one of those games you at least have to play once.

Know Your Limits

Monday, June 25th, 2012

This past weekend I spent some time in the casino playing some of my favorite table games, roulette and poker if you are interested, and was reminded of the importance of setting a limit for yourself, by another player of course. I was talking to this particular player while we were sitting at the roulette table, and he was in the hole some large amount. He kept saying this was his last bet, then again, and again. Lacking self control when you walk into a casino is a disaster waiting to happen, it makes sense why they give you all the alcohol you want. Successful players aren’t the ones that go in and drop thousands at a time, they’re the ones that know when to walk away. This is some of the best advice I have gotten about playing in a casino, and I hope it can help. Have fun and play responsible.
