Kem is the oldest and most well known brand of plastic playing cards.  Since inception these cards have been made from a 100% cellulose acetate material.  The Kem Playing Card company has always felt that this material gave their cards a competitive advantage and have always made sure this fact was known.  Still today these cards are acvertised in this way, even though ownership and production facilities have changed.

The most well known design is the Arrow design which is available in many varieties including the KEM – Arrow Design – Narrow Size – Jumbo Index. Now there is also a Gold and Black Kem Arrow design available in both poker and bridge size decks and every combination of index.  Also, many new designs have resulted from the change of ownership. One of these neat new designs is the KEM – Pantheon Design – Wide Size – Jumbo Index. If you are looking for something more abstract, another fascinating style is the KEM – Impressionists Design – Narrow Size – Standard Index.

Some Kem card enthisiasts still long for cards from the old production runs. This is a nearly impossible feat these days, however some do still exist like the KEM – Golf Design – Narrow Size – Standard Index.  If you find some of these cards go ahead and purchase if you are interested, because even if they are made again it will be in a new production facility.
